Hi folks--

Please apply yourself and/or distribute the job announcement among good
people who may be interested. We have many interesting people here at School
of Education (e.g., John St. Julien, Nancy Brickhouse, Tony Whitson, Jim
Hiebert, David Blacker, and many others) not counting me, of course :-)
Let's move the center of xmca to Delaware!!!

Feel free to ask me more about the job -- I'm on the Search Committee!

Take care,

Eugene

POSITIONS IN LITERACY EDUCATION:

Two tenure-track positions, one Associate/Assistant Professor and one
Assistant Professor, in the School of Education. At least one of the
positions will have a formal association, through an 11-month
appointment, with the Delaware Center for Teacher Education, a College
center that supports teachers' professional development in the state.
For both positions, a doctorate in literacy education is required.
Teaching experience and a background in education is desirable. In
addition, strong research potential or, at the Associate level, a strong
record of research is required. The School seeks individuals with a
strong commitment to teacher education and strengths in research in
areas such as reading, writing, emergent literacy, middle level
literacy, assessment, interventions for the prevention and correction of
reading difficulties, literacy development in urban environments,
literacy technology, and literacy achievement of diverse populations.
Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses,
conducting and supervising research, and service obligations. The
appointment with DCTE requires work with teachers to support their
teaching of literacy to Delaware students.

The review of applications will begin on January 1, 2000. Send a letter
of application including a brief description of research interests, a
curriculum vita, samples of publications, and references to:
