Dear Mary -

In addition to Nate's suggestions, Walkerdine's piece
"Developmental psychology and the child-centered pedagogy: The insertion
of Piaget into early education" in Changing the Subject: Psychology,
Social Regulation, and Subjectivity (edited by Henriques, Hollway, Urwin,
Venn, and Walkerdine) is a thick chapter that sets a historical context for
the merging of particular discourses that produce the "object" of
psychological research within certain socially and historically approved
spaces.

Just a thought - good luck!

Jennifer
