Happy 98/99 trojan virus

You should all be sure to check that you have deleted not just the message
from Joao that contained the virus attachment Happy99.exe, but also look in
the Attachments directory of your email program, or do a global search of
your hard disk, since the virus file itself is not always removed along
with the mail file that brought it. You can also run your anti-virus
program to see if it is still lurking, note that it goes under a large
number of different names. If your virus program is old, you may to delete
it manually.

Note to xmca list server maintainers ... there should be an automatic virus
scan program on the mail server at UCSD. There must not be one since it
should have caught this virus before it was sent out to the list. The
Melissa scare has led lots of institutions to virus protect their mail
servers. I'm surprised UCSD has not already done so. This should be brought
to the attention of higher ups.
