Dear XMCA participants,

It has been a tough time for the San Diego area. While I didn't know =
Vanessa Gack very well, her tragic accident is only the latest in a =
string of such events down here. It is too easy to follow in the =
footsteps of Camus' _Etranger_. Rather than fall into that trap, I =
offer to you all something to hope for - however clumsy it might be =
expressed.

May we all find our own path to inner peace,

Edouard . ..

THAT SEA THAT WILL ALWAYS BE
(In tribute to Vanessa Gack and other spirits of light)

Before all else, the oceans bore all life.
All journeys start and end in that water.
While humans seek to be creation=B9s midwife.
Before the ocean=B9s fury, we all falter.

To sail the sea of life, we are all driven.
Yet we make our berth, as if on dry land.
When the sea takes back what it have given.
We cannot resist the sea=B9s mighty hand.

Yet the sea changes not, we just forget.
We are never more or less than the sea.
While our sorrow cannot be more heartfelt.
True peace is that sea that will always be.

We are never more or less than the sea.
True peace is that sea that will always be.
