Kim asked that I post this to the list:

"ho:ooo" Lenora!

Your performer to audience metaphor would mean that I am the performer=20
as it was me originally who asked us to put up our hands!! I must say=20
that unfortunately I have no 'on stage' abilities such as musical/acting=20
talent. =20

I was then promted to think of another classroom metaphor: the=20
'think/pair/share' type activity. Many are mentioning 'partners' in=20
their postings to the list rather than directly sharing e.g. I refered=20
to Eva's previous suggestion when I came forward initially. It can be=20
scary addressing a large audience but much less threatening to simply=20
'share' the adventure with a 'partner'. I guess that way, if it goes=20
wrong, you are not the only one to blame??!!

Thanks for joining me and the rest of us in our sharing activity.

Who's next?

Regards to all from 'Down Under'
Kim

She's a lurker, he's a lurker, I'm a lurker, too. =20

I'm a graduate student exploring possibilities, constraints, successes,
and problems in collaborative action research among university
researchers, teachers, and administrators. =20

Just thought I'd share how differently I saw the call for "Hands up."=20
Rather than see a classroom, I saw a concert. I envisioned the
performer calling out to the audience (as a lurker, I am definitely
audience and not performer) "every body put your hands up in the air and
say 'ho:oo.'" As dutiful audience member, I am waving my hands in the
air calling back "ho:ooo."=20

Thank you for the wonderful conversations you let me listen in on.
