Hello, I am Doris (dori) Ravotas. I am an instructor of
Psychology in the Department of Education at Michigan Technological
University and a PhD student in Rhetoric and Technical Communications also
at MTU. As a clinical psychologist I am privileged to maintain a small
private practice.
Carol Berkenkotter and I recently published "Genre as tool in the
transmission of Practice over time and across professional boundaries" in
the most recent issue of MCA. I am interested in understanding the debates
in this e-mail community and considering how these debates inform my
interests in written and spoken portayal of client's experiences in the
field of psychotherapy and of the impact of the complex genre used within
this field.
Since I always have a difficult time leaving a self description at
my professional identity let me also mention that I love living the rural
life in the winter wonderland of the Upper Peninsula. I share my 40 acre
farm with my incredible 7 year old daughter, Jazmin, a middle aged Sled
dog and two aged cats.
