I had been a quiet but enthusiastic reader of this list for a number of
years until the end of 1996 when I relocated myself from Toronto to
Pittsburgh. In Toronto I was a Ph.D. student at OISE/UT, specializing in
second language education. In Pittsburgh I teach Japanese-Language and
Second-Language-Acquisition courses at Carnegie Mellon University. After
being away from this discussion list for more than a year, I realize how
much I've missed stimulating discussions this list can offer. So, here I
am re-subscribing to the list from my new e-mail address.
I am currently engaged in a research investigating the effects of
composition models upon writing processes. My colleagues and I are doing
this research in the context of college-level
Japanese-as-a-foreign-language education. Right now we are working
primarily from the cognitive constructivist viewpoint, but we would like
to extend the scope of our research by incorporating sociocultural
perspectives.
