Thanxs for taking the time and clarifying the cyberspace meaning of the
term "lurkers." Being relatively a new traveler in cyberspace I was
unaware of the cyber meaning of the term
. Your point is well taken Sally. It is similar to the African-Americans
in the 60's who used a formerly pejorative term "black" with new meaning
and new pride. "Black is Beautiful" & " Black Pride" etc.
As Vygotsky aptly phrased it, " A word in context means both more and less
than the same word in isolation; more, because it acquires new context;
less because its meaning is limited and narrowed by the context."
