Diane-- In reading your recent posts and the exchange with Judy you have
brought to mind the work of Yutaka Sayeke on what he calls "anthropomorphic
epistemology." What you call semantic bridges, he calls "kobitos." The
change from bridge to kobitos is important because the kobbitos are
imagined replicas of you, inserted into different views of the scene
from the one you see. It is kind of "Self-centered decentering" process.
I do not know what is avaialable in English on Sayeki's views but some
material does exist. Perhaps it provides a path for desolving the
dichotomy that is bothering you.
