The same forces that control the internet and its future directions also
control the rest of the media including the print media. Can it be
coincidence that Time, Newsweek, and Atlantic Monthly all featured stories
on the Reading Wars, this week (two used the identical title). And this
happened the week that the House Education and Workforce committee "marked
up" a bill (sent to the floor of the House) which would establish phonics
as the national reading curriculum, HR2614 (see it on House.Gov).

Please call, fax, write your reps and Senators. Congress wants to adjourn
by 11/7/97 and there may be an attempt to fasttrack the bill.
