One more thing: the xlists themselves are a pretty good source of
reflections & visions on CMC topics. I haven't checked the periodicity of
the bouts of restructuring ideas, but it IS a recurring theme. Reading the
first two years, which were absolutely new to me, I blushed several times
for thinking some pet idea of mine was new and well thought out -- and they
were saying even wiser things back in 88 when all I knew about networks was
how inconvenient it was to be siamese-twinned on the same hard drive with
our programmer, who kept crashing the system trying to get the Mac to
produce sounds...
