I just wanted the folks on this list to know that we have two open positions
here in the Dept of Lang. Ed at the University of Georgia. Both positions
are for the Assistant or Associate level. I've included the announcements
with this posting and would be happy to answer any questions, provide more
information, etc. to interested individuals.=20

Assistant/Associate Professor of TESOL/FL Education
The University of Georgia's Department of Language Education is seeking
applicants for an Assistant or Associate Professor position. This new
position is a nine-month, tenure track appointment beginning Fall, 1998.

Qualifications: An earned doctorate in TESOL/FL Education or related field
is required. Applicants may currently hold the rank of Assistant or
Associate Professor or be in the final stages of a doctoral program.
Candidates who have had experience in rank must demonstrate that they have
initiated a program of scholarly research and publication in one or more of
the following areas:=20
=B7 first and second language development
=B7 research methodologies in the study of language and/or literacy=
development=20
=B7 language and/or literacy assessment
=B7 language variation
=B7 the teaching of English to speakers of non-European languages

Those in the final stages of completing their degrees must show potential to
do so. Applicants must also have ample teaching experience. Interest in
working with P-12 schools and with issues of cultural diversity is highly
desirable.

Responsibilities: Applicants for this position must be committed to working
in teacher education programs, and to continuing or developing an on-going
program of scholarly research and publication. The position also requires
working with pre-service teachers, advising, teaching undergraduate and
graduate courses, and assisting with program development.

Salary: Salary will be commensurate with the applicant's experiences and
qualifications.
