Hi Peter--

We are specificially interested in the impact of computers on classroom
cultures (Honorine has been involved in working on this chapter, along
with lots of other folks, for some time; perhaps the phrasiing of her
message indicated a certain distancining from this task, which has seemed
often be a modern day replay of Sisyphus, only pushing words up
screens rather than rocks up mountains!).

Anyway, as part of our analysis of classroom cultures, we want
a section on how different forms of computer use do/do not
make changes that are/are not productive of the educative
process. We have a pretty good grasp of material up to the last
couple of years, I think, but we got to talking about "what's
new" since the 1980's and were hard pressed to say.

I'll next post a message from an essay in Cole and Cole that is
a couple of years out of date, but which gives the flavor of
some approaches we now about. The problem is, we have the feeling
that there is probably a lot more out there.
