returning and belated

Nice to see the familiar XMCA initials again on my screen!

Will finally 'filter' all XMCA messages to a convenient file (with Eudora,
now that our mainframe is pop3-friendly).

I am back for a while after so many trip away. I was especially sorry to
miss out on much of the discussion of Mike Cole's _Cultural Psychology_
over the summer. The book is on my desk and will soon be in my discourse
repertoire ... and perhaps, if people don't mind a belated re-opening of
some of its themes, I may offer some comments or ask some questions, finally.

I realize many of us may be away now for the last freedom rides before
teaching resumes ... we can all turn to the xmca archives to see what we've
missed, though I hope maybe the web version will make this easier than it's
been for me in the past!

PS. I was really depressed by last week's _Newsweek_ account of
Antarctica's penguin populations dying off from the early effects of global
warming; especially since I'd recently visited the EPA's website and been
profoundly horrified by the official U.S. 'pro-prosperity' policy of malign
neglect. I was considering doing an analysis of the website -- but I'm too
angry.
