Here's the correct URL address for our webpage.

http://communication.ucsd.edu/MCA

A couple of Mike and Yrjo's papers, to start with, should be there by early
next week. Also, I receive a message from Lois Holzman saying that she
was going send me her papers from the Geneva conference for our webpage.
So as soon as I have that I will add them to the page.

I have another issue to discuss with youabout the format of papers to be
posted on the web. There are a few different ways that I can make the
papers available...but I'm going to propose only two for now. One way is
we can do it in normal text, which means we will lose a lot of the
formatting, italic, for example. However, one advantage of this is that
you can view the text of the papers directly on the webpage without having
to download them to your hard drive first. The other proposition is to
have the papers in Acrobat format, which will keep all the formatting,
even including the endnotes and footnotes. All you have to do to download
a paper is to click at the title of the paper you want, and it will
automatically download it for you.

Acrobat is a sharware program that's available for free. I will put one
the webpage a link that says [click "here"] to download a copy of that
software to your machine so all of you can have it. Keeping an archive of
papers in Acrobat takes less upkeeping time than to hand write HTML code
in every paper we want on the web. However, one disadvantage of this
format is that you would have to download the paper you want to your
computer before you can view it. It will keep our website small though.

Let me know what you think about this please. Or we might just want to
try either format for a couple weeks and see how we feel.

Happy surfing,

Pim
