My main interest is in the relevance of Vygotsky's theory for contemporary
developmental psychology, particularly his claims about the dialogic
nature of the higher mental functions. My empirical work to date has
centred around the phenomenon of private speech, individual differences
in parent-child interaction, and the effect of social experience on the
development of social cognition. I received my PhD from the University of
Cambridge in 1995, and am currently a lecturer at Staffordshire University
in the UK.
