I recently came accross this book (but have not really looked at it
since) perhaps there may be something you might want to check out:

Vygotsky in the Classroom: Mediated Literacy, Instruction, and Assessment
Lisbeth Dixon-Krauss (1996). White Plains, NY: Longman.
