Thanks very much to those who have provided references.

Hi, Ken, Esteban. I apologize for not having said more "up front"
about the purpose behind my request. A colleague (actually assoc.
dean of my school) who is working on a big assessment of assessment
grant, asked for articles specific to language arts that might
be helpful to him. His background is in assessment but his
knowledge of language arts practices is limited. I have just now
found out more about his purposes, so I can tell you what they are.
They're actually 3-fold. 1. He's interested in what the assessment
issues/debates are in different disciplines at the college level
and in different subject areas at the lower grades, for his own
information, since he & the other principal investigater are still at
an exploratory data-gathering stage. 2. He's interested in actual
assessment practices in writing/literature courses at the
college level. 3. He's interested in actual assessment practices
in language arts K-12. So to correct my original message, I'm
interested in not only well-researched/theorized articles on assessment
in the language arts but also any article on actual assessment
practices, especially those you consider exemplary....

Thanks again.

Judy
