I had a graduate student, Baitibg Gu, who wrote his MA thesis on "A Human
Acivity Approach to Software Localization" (Iowa State University 1994). He
described Apple's development of a "Chinese Language Kit," which localized
System 7 for the Chinese language market. Interesting issues of icons,
orthographic systems, etc., using activity theory. I don't know how
closely he's followed this recently. He's now a graduate student in
rhetoric at Purdue.

He's not on xmca. His address is: Baitibg Gu
