Re: fossilzing?

To fossilize or not to fossilize .... is that the question?

I don't know, maybe anyone's written ideas from over half a
century ago are bound to be a little dusty. Both perspectives
that I've seen posted seem reasonable and creative. That is,
allowing Vygotsky's work (or someone's interpretation of it)
to serve as a dialectical foil for generating or focusing
contemporary ideas -- that seems like a reasonable way
to make sense out of ideas that were written in another
time and place. Likewise, though, I have great affection
for archeologists as well as cultural anthropologists.
I also like the built-in metaphor of "digging up" material
and the reconstruction of skeletons from old bones. So,
for those who not only don't mind but appreciate fossils,
this seems like an equally exhilarating approach.

Besides, I presume the conference aims to be ecumenical
in its tone and tolerance for alternative views.
