Here is an interesting paper and discussion list that xmca-ites
might like to link up with
mike
There's a very interesting paper by Jane Hill on the use of what she
calls Mock Spanish (e.g. Ay carrrumba! Hasta la vista, baby, El Frito
Bandito, etc.) as a covert and sometimes not so covert form of racism. The
paper is available on the web and includes numerous illustrations and
also video clips (I couldn't access these because I got disconnected
before I could run them). The paper is partof an ongoing discussion in
the Language and Culture list run out of U. Chicago.

I thought the paper might be of interest to the LCM people especially.
