The International Conference on Innovative Teaching Practices
(ICITP) will be held in Utrecht, the Netherlands, June 23 - 27, 1996.
The main goal of the conference is to stimulate international
discussion on the systematic study of innovative teaching practices.
These practices will, among others, be discussed from the
perspectives of educational concepts, progressive education, school
reform, teacher education, and autonomous and cooperative learning.
This conference will be held in 1996, the year we celebrate the
centennial anniversaries of Piaget, Vygotsky and Freinet. Less noted,
however, is the fact that in this same year it is also 100 years ago
that Dewey founded his laboratory school in Chicago.

The conference will be organized as a five-day meeting in June 1996.
The mornings will see the keynote lectures, presentations of
innovative teaching projects, and panel discussions; in the
afternoons there will be symposia on subjects related to the morning
project presentations as well as to the conference theme in general.
Thus, authors are invited to submit papers and posters. Social
events, including an excursion, and a conference dinner will be part
of the conference.

Recently we launched the second announcement with detailed
information about the conference. I kindly ask you to be part of the
conference and to submit a proposal. If you would like to recieve the
program and registration form, please send your full postal address
to me or contact the ICITP-conference secretariat (Marika Prak at
icitp who-is-at ivlos.ruu.nl).
A whole-hearted welcome!
