Descartes bashing - NOT!

Hello everyone,

Not to detract from the substantive issues. But as an "obsolete
Frenchman," I'd like to vote for terms that avoid labeling
individuals. Even Sartre thought very highly of Descartes
philosophy, and given the intellectual world in which Descartes
lived, his ideas were liberating in their own way. There is an
oddly existential character to Descartes meditations which
perhaps is the source of both Sartre's and my own facination.

Who knows, if Descartes was alive today - he might subscribe to xmca . .
