The Fleet U

a collaboration of

Welcome to SDCC Independent Study of Electricity and Magnetism run at the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center, aka Fleet U.

Brief course description:

Under the daily supervision of UCSD physics graduate students and Reuben H Fleet education staff, the San Diego City College students will be covering basic principles of E/M.  The curriculum will be developed in the form of weekly workshops where students will learn the physics underpinning the various exhibits at the Fleet.  In addition to learning basic principles of E/M (developing improved understanding of electrostatics and electric fieldlines, current (ac / dc) and circuits, circuit components (resistors, capacitors, etc), magnets and magnetic field lines, induction, generation, waves, and the E/M waves and spectrum) students will conduct individual projects to develop deeper understanding of the physics of one or more of the Fleet exhibits.  In the process of so doing, students are expected to develop research and presentation skills (both oral and written)
Information about the course will be posted here (including homework).
