I participated in the mass rally at the football atadium after Nixon's Indochina escalation when Harvard students and faculty determined to go on strike for the remainder of the year to work full time against the war.

A year later people tried a repeat of that event. Never could it more truly have been said: "the first time as tragedy, the second time as farce."

(And, speaking of collective memory, for how much longer will it be possible to assume that folks will recognize a line from the 18th Brumaire?)
