[xmca] Laughter and learning

Growing out of some conversations and research here at Mike's lab in San Diego, the attached few pages describe a theoretical and policy proposal, or maybe just a concern, about how the alienated labor view of learning is distorting both education in schools and theory in the learning sciences.

The basic point is that seriousness is taken too seriously, and that laughter, or at least playfulness, is a key and perhaps a necessary element for learning that lasts, and even more so for learning activities that are worth doing. Also some implications for the design of new media learning environments, though that will require a longer discussion.

All comments welcome.
