Re: [xmca] Where and What Is A Boundary?( is it between microgenesis and ontogenesis?)



I have been following the discussion from afar and plan to remain afar, but
one thing vacations do is to open up
some reading time. Quite apart from the various disagreements that have
surfaced from Peter's initial comments
(thanks Peter for getting the conversation started), and speaking for
myself, I found the article for discussion
difficult to follow. Having people with experience in teacher education
programs with on-the-ground experience
helping us understand the issues involved (and having time  to read the
messages!) has been helpful. A lot of people
voted to discuss this article, presumably because of an interest in ideas of
boundaries and teacher ed and it would
be helpful to hear from more of them to understand the full range of issues
involved.

Meantime, I can offer two bits of accessible information. The first is a
copy of the Engestrom and Sannino article which has been published and was
forward to me by a grad student as part of his own attempts to understand
Yrjo's ideas
and the other the fact that "Learning by Expanding", Yrjo's doktorat, is
available at lchc. I attach the article for those
interested. They expand on what Peter wrote as a summary.
