Re: [xmca] Fwd: SRCD Request for Proposals

Ignacio,
Last year a group of us submitted a proposal to SRCD's initiative in support of what they call "small conferences or study groups." I don't think there is too much difference between the two, other than the level of formality. Also last year we tied our proposal to both AERA and ISCAR. Should we submit again, we won't tie it to any convention. I hope this responds to what you're asking. And if you're referring to my book Vygotsky at Work and Play (Mike, do you have a new book too?), then I'm happy to say it is now available.
All best,
Lois

Hi, Lois,
How are you? I just got back from Spain where I celebrated the New Year.
Happy New Year to you and your family and friends! You suggestion is
interesting, I am all for it. Are you still interested to use Mercy to get funds for the conference? I talked to the department chair and the provost and they....finally... responded. If it is not too late , let me know.
Love,

Hi MIke,
Yes!
Want to try again with play? Even though we didn't get any feedback on why we were rejected last year, I think we all have some ideas on how to advance the proposal and make it more focused and more attractive. Evidently, having it attached to AERA and ISCAR didn't gain us much, so we can be freer this
time. Any one else interested?
Lois

    SRCD Strategic Plan Initiative

*Request for Proposals: Small Conference or Study Group*

The Society for Research in Child Development issued its first RFP last
fall
inviting proposals for small conferences or study groups to further the strategic priorities and goals of the Society. Because of the popularity
of
this initiative and to further attention to the goals of the strategic
plan,
the Society is pleased to issue a second request for proposals for study groups and other research planning activities that address the strategic plan. The size of awards will vary depending on the needs and goals of
the
conference or study group. As a general guideline, the range of awards
will
be $10,000 to $40,000. Priority will be given to proposals for initiatives for which matching funds will be sought. In addition, priority will be
given
to initiatives that will result in an intellectual product that will be broadly disseminated. Examples include (but are not limited to) books,
edited volumes, and special issues of journals (including *Child
Development
*), as well as products designed for broader audiences of policymakers or practitioners. Addressing more than one goal of the five part strategic
plan
is also desirable. The deadline for receipt of applications is March 31, 2009. Funding decisions will be made by June 30, 2009. The RFP application
is attached to this message or see the full RFP
application<
http://www.srcd.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=285&Itemid=255
on
the SRCD website. Applications that do not use the forms provided will not be reviewed. Applicants must be SRCD members. The SRCD strategic
plan<

is
available for view online.
