Position: Assistant Professor, Literacy/Cognition/STEM Education,
tenure track, academic-year appointment starting August 10, 2007.
Position Responsibilities: Conduct collaborative research in literacy
studies as it relates to cognition as well as science, technology,
engineering, and/or mathematics (STEM) education; teach, supervise,
and advise masters and doctoral students in literacy studies; and
provide related service and outreach. Required Qualifications:
Doctoral degree in literacy or related field (will consider
candidates who will complete by 8/10/07). Evidence for: (a) potential
in publishing scholarly work; (b) potential in collaborative
interdisciplinary work at the intersections of literacy studies,
cognition, and/or STEM education; (c) effective teaching; and (d)
effective communication skills. Preferred Qualifications: Evidence of
success in: (a) K-12 teaching; (b) postsecondary teaching; (c)
supervising students in school settings; (d) grant activity; (e) use
of digital technologies; and (f) quantitative research. Review of
