Yes, that's where I was going. "Putting culture at the center", means that
mediation is ever present and context is ever relational. The phrase
"independent problem solving" becomes a contradiction in terms, because
complete independence would exclude any forms of mediation, and that's just
not possible. At a very basic level, language is mediational, and
communication is hard pressed to occur without it. There's a core idea in
zoped which is not lost, however, and that is problem solving (or more
generally "performance") is context related. One can vary the context and
observe differences in performance, which one can associate with changes in
contextual relations. Does this make sense?
