I hope my little intrusion last evening will not distract folks from
looking at the paper Bill sent. It is certainly worth a read!

The Star Trek episode I mentioned is described here:

Subject: breaking away

Some of you may have met Cindy Jouper when she and I presented at AERA 5
years
ago. Atached is the paper we did telling a bit of the story of her
breaking
away/entering into/making/being made. It's really a quite long and
convoluted story, more to be said, and the breaking away left traces all

over. A lot of the inspiration for interpreting her story comes from
Learning
by Expanding, but you'll find that there are no triangles. It seemed
that
the MCA audience was pretty clear on triangles and there was no need to
explain their use. More effort was aimed at making explicit the
expansive
methodlogy, especially since there were rumors at the time of writing
that
CHAT did not have a methodology. I'm not sure how much time I have at
the
moment to add anything to what has been written, but here is a preprint,

anyway.
