Subject: Fwd: Research Opportunity Announcement for Graduate Students

The National Center for Education Statistics, Institute of Education
Sciences announces a new project titled The Language Minority Children
Analysis Project, coordinated by the National Center for Research on
Evaluation, Standards, and Student Testing (CRESST). The goal of this
project is to encourage research on questions relating to the early learning
and educational experiences and outcomes of language minority children in
the United States, including their academic achievement, home and school
learning environments, and other relevant issues. These analyses will be
conducted using existing data from the Early Childhood Longitudinal Study
(ECLS) and the National Household Education Surveys Program (NHES).

Graduate students from education, psychology, sociology, anthropology,
linguistics, and similar disciplines are encouraged to apply. Funding
support for graduate students ranges from $2,000 to $15,000. Initial
application materials are due by July 23, 2004.

Please see http://www.cresst.org/lmc for more information. Please print
out the attached flyer and post it on your graduate bulletin board.

  Thank you,
  CRESST LMC Team
