Dear Judy and everybody-

As they say, "Initiative is punishable!" :-) I was hoping that somebody else
elaborate about people on my list. But I guess I have to do that....

> 1) Carol Lee
I'd like to hear about Carol's work on how to use kids' strengths in one
cultural and home domain in another institutional domain. Specifically, her
work with African American kids using hip-hop for doing literary analysis in
school. It is interesting for me if the relationship between hip-hop and
classic literary analysis is mutual and if classic literary analysis
enhances kids' hip-hop experiences and how. Of course, I'll be interested to
know what Carol does now if her interests are shifted....

> 2) Debra Hicks
Debra's latest book "Reading lives: Working-class children and literacy
learning" generated a lot of discussions. I think Debra has been developing
holistic approach to learning and I'd love to hear her ideas about that.

> 3) Jean Lave
I just want to know where Jean Lave is "now" in her "sociocultural
chronotope". I'd like to hear her "state of sociocultural approach" address.
What is hot issues for her.

> 4) Etienne Wenger
Going beyond "communities of practice"????

> 5) Jim Gee
Videogames, ideologies, and identities. It is interesting to discuss with
Jim and others why so many sociocultural folks turns on studying games....

I'm getting out of breath....

What do you think?

Eugene
PS Rereading Debra Hicks' message below I was thinking that it can be
interesting to invite Robert Serpell who is a specialist in African
education....
