Hopefully this forwarded email will work around Judy's expulsion from xmca.

Thanks to Mike for posting this clarification on the instructions for
submitting a proposal to AERA. I want to reiterate here --

Some proposers may have mistakenly submitted proposals with ONLY ABSTRACTS,
without UPLOADING the original proposal, which appears as an ATTACHMENT in
addition to the snippets posted in the step-by-step instructions.

If your original, full proposal is not uploaded as an attachment, the
reviewers will have no way of checking off the criteria stipulated by AERA
for acceptance of proposals.

Please make sure you have followed the rules in the AERA proposal submission
game, because we are relying on them to make the review process open and
fair.

Thanks from your friendly program officer,
judy

Subject: submitting to aera

Folks-

Those who are submitting papers or symposia or... to aera should know
that the procedure as posted is misleading. Here, after much fumbling
even after getting help from Jay,is what I learned from a guy at AERA
who was working yesterday.

1. Write up your full application in a file as a single document, but
follow the bit by bit menu AERA gives you on the web page.

2. Cut and paste the appropriate parts from your document into the web
page.

3. When you are all done with the web page you will be asked to click
on a red text saying click here to upload. That will take you back to
a browser.

4. Using the brower, open the ORIGINAL document and upload it.

5. You will be congratulated and also get a string of error messages.
Igrnore the warnings (I am told).

6. Turn off your computer and go read a novel.

mike
