Hi Folks,

There appears to be some confusion regarding the Cultural Historical Research
SIG theme. A theme would not have invited speakers. Perhaps the source of
the confusion is that one possible administrative advantage of the theme is
to guide the review of aera proposals to form a symposia ONLY IF no symposia
are proposed. In my conversation with Eugene in New Orleans, he indicated
that this was the case last year. I hope I am not mistaken -- can anyone
verify this?

It is far more preferable that you propose symposia. Please do. I do not
know how many slots are available at the present time, but it is clear that
the number grows with CHSIG membership, so please sign up and enjoy the
benefits!

I've created a voting site at:

http://chsig.freepolls.com/cgi-bin/polls/001/poll_center.htm

The themes (abbreviated to facilitate web management) offered so far are
listed. If you would like to add one, please drop me a line.
