Bill -- thanks. I've had one response so far; am waiting for others before
assessing reactions.

There will be an article in the Chicago Sun-Times on this project Monday May 20.
Given the mix of Chicago politics, race relations and labor unions, I'm
apprehensive. As it mentions in the paper, after our little conference in
February, an alderman printed up ads for one of our classes touting it as "union
jobs," put them on windshields, and 160 people showed up for the first math
class -- that's an indication of unemployment, plus how hot this topic is. The
last thing I want, however, is the union apprenticeship programs feeling they're
being accused of continuing historic practices of exclusion -- it's the
opposite; they're trying to open up, but have to have increased market share in
order to have jobs in which to place apprentices.

Looking forward to your comments,

Helena
