You are soooo right. I would think the problem wouldn't be the teachers it
would be the training they get. Shouldn't teachers be expected to actually
possess real world skills before they are sent into the classroom? Instead
18 year olds who have been trained in abstract thinking get trained on how to
teach abstract thought to 5-18 year olds. It appears the whole idea of
contectual learning/teaching will not become reality untill teacher training
looks at this issue. I would rather learn from someone who has actually
practiced a skill rather then read about that skill.

Any suggestions for how to change our current educational system?
