JOB OPENING for PROGRAM COORDINATOR at RETHINKING SCHOOLS
Rethinking Schools is a non-profit publisher advocating the reform of our
public schools. Our emphasis is on urban schools and issues of equity and
social justice.
We publish the progressive, quarterly journal Rethinking Schools, books
and pamphlets, and an active website Rethinking Schools Online.
Rethinking Schools is expanding and plans to hire a program coordinator.
POSITION SUMMARY
The program coordinatoris primary responsibility will be to coordinate
and facilitate the various programs of Rethinking Schools. She/he will
oversee internal communication, coordinate strategic planning, and help
develop a public relations strategy. In addition, the program
coordinatoris on-going responsibilities will include grant work and
program development, financial oversight, and budget preparation.
The program coordinator will work closely with the three current staff
managers and the volunteer Board of Directors and editors. Must be based
in Milwaukee.
40 hrs/week
SUMMARY OF REQUIREMENTS
Excellent written and verbal communications skills required. Computer
literate. Administrative and budget experience. Must be well organized
with attention to detail. Able to handle multiple tasks. Background in
education, publishing or nonprofit management a plus.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
Salary range is $32,000 - $35,000, commensurate with skills and
experience. Benefits include health/dental insurance and four weeks paid
vacation.
