Oh, well, here's a suggestion -- a good follow-up to Leont'ev might be the book 'learning by expanding', a kind of stepping stone between 'classic' and 'current' activity theory?

Since the author holds copyright, we might make this otherwise hard to obtain text (at least for north americans) quite a bit more accessible through some web-working, if an electronic copy can be found.
