i don't think ideologies are inherently coherent - i think belief systems,
based on ideology,
become the basis of activity - personal beliefs, however they are deeply
scripted in ideology,
present a person with the _semblance_ of coherence, so that practice seems
normal, accommodating a sense-making system that legitimizes
practice:
but practice, as judy points out, is often where the contradictions can be
understood -

for example, the university, as an ideological system, is perfectly
INcoherent,
and yet what academic will admit that their specialization or belief
system doesn't make sense? that the ideological basis of their activity is
actually incoherent?
i think judy suggested a theoretical coherency to ideology, which is
available in the apparent contradictions in practice,
and i wondered of any one had a research experience from which to
offer examples of how AT uncovers contradiction in activity,
and is able to trace this to kinds of belief systems that are relied upon
a basis for activity.
