I re-read Valsiner's article in Vol 1 of recent edition of Handbook of
Child Psychology -- he has an excellent discussion of different versions
of development vis a vis Vygotsky there. There is also an interesting
overview theoretical chapter on concepts of development by Overton.
Wiley is the publisher, Damon is the editor in chief of the handbook-- all
4,800 pages!
