my recent postings (more than usual) were prompted by the confluence of my
research and writing and my own responses to what i was perceiving as
happening with/in this list group.

and i would really like to push Nate's statement that non-instrumental
reflection does not change the system systematically or directly.

how else would a system change?

would change require the resolution of (some, any, or all) contradiction?
i wonder about ways to resist the impulse for resolution,
ways to support contradition that are healthy, expansive,
and that add texture, width, and depth to the conversations
(to continually move along dialectical trajectories, if you will)
without anyone feeling threatened or attacked.

"Difference itself is not conflict; it takes an ideology of sameness to
configure it that way." (Anne Carolyn Klein)

i don't think contradiction has to be conflict either.
i would like to hear more from phillip capper and others who are
practicing some variation of CHAT in settings outside of the university.
(please forgive me, phillip, if i've labeled you inaccurately and i hope
you'll clarify for me).
