I don't if this is the orgin - or the unique source - but "teachable moment"
comes up a lot in math curricula that are based on "constructive" models -
whatever, precisely may or may not be meant by that. The Freudenthal Instute
in The Netherlands has, I think, focused on that concept.

would like to know if there was originally some particular theoretical
orientation attached--now surely lost in the wide circulation of the term.
