ADOLESCENT DEVELOPMENT
University of Illinois at Chicago, College of Education
Tenure track position -open rank - Fall Semester, 2000

The Educational Psychology area of the College of Education at the
University of
Illinois at Chicago invites applications for an open rank tenured/tenure-track
position in Adolescence. This position requires expertise in processes of
learning and development of adolescents relevant to education in urban
settings. Research could be either on adolescent cognition or on social
developmental factors pertinent to student educational attainment. This work
does not need to be confined to research in school settings, but may include
family processes, peer relations, or other factors which impinge upon
adolescent educational experiences.
Teaching responsibilities include courses on adolescent development
required for
secondary certification and middle school teaching endorsements, as well as
making a significant contribution to the secondary education program.
Experience working with adolescents in middle or secondary schools would be a
plus for this position.

The Educational Psychology faculty of the College of Education works closely
with the Department of Psychology. Educational Psychology provides courses
needed to meet the minor in Psychology. In addition, the doctoral program in
Educational Psychology is an interdepartmental concentration between Education
and the Psychology Department. Thus, the candidate will be expected to have a
strong background in developmental psychology, and be willing to work with
psychology doctoral students with research interests in the area of adolescent
development.

Applicants should provide a current vita, representative preprints/reprints,
evidence of teaching qualifications, and three letters of reference. All
candidates must have completed the doctoral degree or provide assurance of
completion prior to the appointment dates of August 21, 2000. Send
