It seems I'm feeling deja vu all over again. =20

Three years ago (to the month I think) this very issue of false =
consciousness was the topic of a thread here, with some of the same =
participants, does anyone else remember that? What I'd like to know is =
when the term "false consciousness" actually came to part of the =
vocabulary--Lukacs used the term "reified consciousness" and it didn't =
simply refer to "accepting bourgeois myths" but to the acceptance of =
class relations as things, natural relations, not relations created =
through human social activity. I've always suspected that "false =
consciousness" came out of Lukacs "reified consciousness" but don't know =
that as a fact. Did Paolo Freire use the term "false consciousness"? I =
forget.
