the news will undoubtedly be met with cheers from the optimistic, but i "been
to the vet" a long time ago...after deciding, upon sober refelction and some
psychological counselling, that my particular droplet in the gene pool could
use a shot of chlorine...and have never regretted it...

i get my parental instincts vitiated by attention to lost and strayed 'other'
critters--indeed, i like the vast majority of other species far, far better
than the one of which i am a putative member---and by being a kind of 'big
brother'/eccentric uncle for a couple of orphaned lads (ages 9 & 11) who live
nearby and love my "girls" (the afore-mentioned 'other' critters: a poodle
'Poly," a spaniel 'Myschief' and the collie/retriever cross 'Gypsy'; also five
cats--Marv, Miggle, Annie, Cal-purr-nia, and Lily)

no kidding? been there and, happily, done that: three marriages, no kids (and
prolly just as well). with every new "advance" in technology, ideology, and/or
mythology, the more i watch, look, and listen to my fellowfolk, the more
misanthropic i become...
