How does our memory work?

If a Jaz disk can hold two gigabytes of retrievable data, can someone =
please explain why I can=92t recall my own Visa number? Perhaps the most =
amazing thing of all about the information revolution is that, somehow, =
a few decades of computer engineering appear to have outmatched a =
billion years of nervous system natural selection. Next to the total =
recall of a Pentium III, our own fuzzy and forgetful brains don=92t seem =
so impressive any more.
