But I think it will merely add further "inauthenticities" of a different
kind because there will not be much attention paid to the "metacognitive
awareness" that allows students to reapply some of what they learn to the
other activity systems in their lives (the issue of learning "transfer").

My conclusion to all of this is that if only governments would give their
teachers a chance to do their jobs undisturbed over a long enough period of
time then we could do some marvellous things in education. But I hold out
no hope of this happening soon. Which leads me to the conclusion that any
shortcomings in education are invariably and largely due to the incompetent
manipulations of external institutions such as political party ideologies
as well as the flash-in-the-pan ideologies of some academic networks. I
will not therefore, as a teacher, accept responsibility for the failures of
the educational system.

How's that for a rant?
