Davydov mentions;

"According to Vygotsky, the teacher may educate students in a deliberate =
fashion only by constantly collaborating with them, with their =
environment, with their desires and with their willingness to themselves =
work with the teacher."

They book is lectures from 1921-23 and as Davydov mentions intended to =
share with teachers the new knowledge of teaching which of course =
included Dewey. I tend to think of Vygotsky himself as a dialectical =
movement, which is why I find him so interesting.
