I have been away and am just catching up on the discussion, but one line from
Jay's good/bad functinalism note seems to me worth reiteracting because it nails
a very common error of distinguising social and biological as if they were
real antimonies:
social systems _are_ biological systems, just biosystems of a
special and distinctive kind)
